Libby's Community Walk

LIBBY’S COMMUNITY WALK

Friends,

Earlier in the year, we highlighted a Community Walk we are organising in May to remember Libby and others who have left us, to have a chance to enjoy the beautiful countryside we live in whilst also raising money for good causes.

Time is moving on and we thought it would be helpful to furnish more details

Date                     :              16th May

Time                     :              9.00am for breakfast (for a 10.00am start)

Start location :              Underriver Village Hall (TN15 0SP)

Over the last month we have been working on routes for the day suitable for all ages and have identified a couple of lovely routes that we think will not only give you a chance to enjoy the Kent countryside but also see parts of the village you would not normally have access to. We will look to share details as the big day approaches.

We have had a lot of interest in the event so a big thank you from all of us!

To help us gauge numbers, do please sign up on Event Brite using the following QR code:

If you are not comfortable or familiar with Event Brite, do please email us and let us know that you are aiming to come on: underriver.events@gmail.com.

If you are not fussed about the walk and are keen to participate, you would be very welcome – just let us know you will be there.

We have had a number of volunteers offer to help with co-ordinating the walk and helping with refreshments. If you can help with either, do please let us know on: underriver.events@gmail.com

As mentioned, when we sent out one of the earlier notifications, whilst one of the main rationales for the walk was to enjoy a sense of community and the local countryside, we also wanted to use it as an opportunity to raise money for a number of causes close to Libby’s heart.

To this end, we are looking to raise money for West Kend Mind, the Hospice in the Weald, Spurgeons and St Margaret’s Church. Spurgeons is a faith-based charity offering advocacy services to vulnerable children and particularly those suffering mental health issues. Hospice in the Weald is the local Hospice where Libby worked and who also provided care for her towards the end of her life. West Kent Mind was the local branch of Mind where Libby worked and volunteered. St Margaret’s is of course our very own church where Libby was Church Warden.

More information on each of the charities will be available on the day.

Thank you for all the interest you have shown so far.

We are looking forward to a great day out
